River of Wisdom

This is a glimpse of the “River of Wisdom”, see an animated version of the painting, prescription “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival”. A giant screen 120 meters long and 6 meters high displays a moving painting brought to life via current technologies. The music track is an original Chinese composition. The original painting ( 9.5 ft by 17.5 ft) is hundreds of years old. Created by the Song Dynasty artist, Zhang Zeduan (1085-1145), it depicts daily life in Chinese society from the humble lifestyle of field workers, children at play, commerce along the riverbank, travelers passing through Bianjing now called Kaifeng. This painting was a particular favorite of the Emperor Puyi. It is often considered the most important work amongst all ancient pieces. This exhibit was a hit at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, then moved to the Asia World Expo where hundreds of thousands of visitors stood in line to view this incredible presentation of daily life in a China long ago. The detailed movements in every scene are simply astonishing. This is an amazing example of the creative spirit, to think of marrying this ancient work of art with contemporary technologies, and to have done so with such good taste. Life is Good
