Guest artist, Dana Land, sits in on Thursday night with Sonny Silva & The Love Guyz (Miles Jackson on bass, Aaron Aranita on keyboards & sax) at Cafe Che Pasta’s Cabaret (this Thursday, 7pm early start featuring Frank B. Shaner and other guests). A native Honolulu fifth-generation daughter of Hawaii, Dana studied classical piano then found her true passion while studying vocal jazz at Sonoma State U with renowned vocal instructor, Suzanne Pittson. Dana began performing professionally within a year. Her new album, “All the Cats Join In”, is a collaboration with world-class musicians — Count Basie Orchestra trumpeter, Scotty Barnhart; violin virtuoso, Carlos Reyes; on reeds, Jeff Sanford; pianists, Jonathan Alford and Larry Vuckovich; iconic drummer Akira Tana, bassists Chris Amberger and John Wiitala; and the talented Honolulu Jazz Quartet.
