Tribeca Comes to Kahala
I love New York. Every time I visit I envision living there but I know that I’m a local girl destined to enjoy the city but always I will return home to beautiful Hawaii, so when the Kahala Hotel & Resort did something quite unique it was memorable. Former Hoku GM, Dante Camara (Kalani grad 82, by way of NYC and years with Daniel Boulud’s in NY and Las Vegas) and the hotel’s former GM, Thomas Pauley, created a New York presence in Honolulu.
It was part of a Kahala Food & Wine Classic weekend. Tribeca Grill (the same folks who brought you Nobu’s, whose owners include Robert DeNiro and a list of other luminaries including Sean Penn who we can almost claim as a newly planted local north shore guy) were in town with Chef Stephen Lewandowski, blending fresh Hawaii products with a NYC flair and doing it over five courses paired with wines from Far Niente, EnRoute, and Dolce.
Guests were treated to an up close and personal experience with Tribeca Grill’s Drew Nieporent and Far Niente’s CEO, Larry Maguire… and at the close of dinner, of course only the best cigars were offered to guests on the lawn. Now that was a memorable evening.
