Brave Brenda Chapman

Brenda Chapman, whose vision, “Brave”, was financed by animation giant, Pixar, was here in Honolulu for a presentation to the public, “Story to Script/Script to Story”. She shared her experiences at a two -day workshop at Kapiolani Community College. Ms Chapman had been a successful animator prior to creating, writing, and directing the Academy Award-winning film, Brave — featuring Pixar’s first-ever female protagonist. Surprising? One year prior to the film’s release Pixar “let her go” as director of the production, due to “creative differences”. Brenda Chapman has continued to move forward with other projects and in mentoring young filmmakers.

Kapi’olani Community College continues to provide Hawaii students and the public, with great events such as this. On APRIL 1, 2015, Jerome Ranft (character sculptor at Pixar) creator of Sully in MONSTERS INC., and Remy of Ratatouille, will be speaking at 7p, free to the public. OHIA 110.
